Clos de La Vielle Eglise
This outstanding property became part of the Trocard family around 1830. The 3.7 acre vineyard is located on the upper bank of the Isle River Valley, ‘the golden crescent of Pomerol,’ and consists of clay and gravel. The vines are, on average, 45 years old and are hand harvested and sorted. IT is 70 Merlot and 30% Cab Franc. After one week of maceration at low temperature to extract the fruit aromas, fermentation is performed at about 24° C. 5 weeks later the wine is transferred to new oak barrels where it will undergo malolactic fermentation and is then aged 20 months in barrel. This wine has all of the depth and elegance of the greats in Pomerol and shares their property lines. Consistently a sommelier favorite, this elegant wine, delivers notes of mint, eucalyptus, dark fruit, minerality, and more. 500 cases produced.
